“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
Carl R Rogers, A Way of Being
Counselling
I offer face to face person centred counselling in the Wyre & Fylde areas of Lancashire. Each session costs £50 and lasts for 50 mins. I do have some availability for a concessionary rate of £25. I also offer an initial free phone appointment lasting 20 mins which allows for you to hear more about the type of counselling that I offer and whether you feel that you would like to commence sessions.
Person Centred counselling is a type of talking therapy that was founded by Carl Rogers a psychologist who believed that ‘given the right conditions a person can reach their full potential and become their true self which he termed ‘ self actualisation’ (BACP 2025). In order to help you reach your full potential and become your true self I will provide a therapy space that is fully accepting of all that you bring to the session, providing empathy and compassion. Please see my About page for further details about my approach
People come to counselling for many different reasons and these may include:
Depression or anxiety
Panic attacks
Effects of childhood abuse – physical, sexual, emotional
Trauma, past or present
Struggling to adjust to the impact of some of life challenges like a bereavement, divorce, financial difficulties, losing a job
Feeling overwhelmed with certain emotions like anger or sadness
Stress and generally feeling discounted with life challenges
Eating problems
How to book your first session
You can book your first session by email, phone, WhatsApp or text (see below) or by completing the form on the Contact page. You can also contact me via the social media pages. I will then be in contact with you to arrange an initial free consultation which is normally over the phone and lasts for 20 minutes however some clients like to come and meet me face to face and to also see if the space feels comfortable for them.
During the first session I will start with going through a counselling agreement with you (that you will have received prior to the session) just to check whether you have any questions. Then the space is yours to explore what is on your mind. It can usually take a few sessions to start to feel comfortable with myself and the space and also the process of counselling. It can feel quite daunting starting on a counselling journey and I know too well this feeling so I ensure that I provide a safe and nurturing environment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
